Baby Jaundice Phototherapy Rental (Malaysia)

Safe, At-Home Phototherapy Support for Newborn Jaundice

Jaundice is a common condition affecting many newborns in the first week of life, often seen as yellowing of the skin and eyes due to elevated bilirubin levels. While mild jaundice may improve naturally, some babies may be advised by a healthcare professional to undergo phototherapy.

At Sonobee Ultrasound, we offer a home phototherapy rental service to support families who have been advised to continue phototherapy at home, providing convenience and comfort without unnecessary hospital stays.

How Our Phototherapy Units Work

Our portable LED phototherapy units emit a blue light wavelength (460–490 nm) that breaks down excess bilirubin in your baby’s skin, allowing it to be safely excreted through urine and stool.

How to Book a Phototherapy Rental

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about phototherapy

1. Is the phototherapy light safe for newborns?

Phototherapy has been widely used under medical guidance for newborn jaundice. Our rental units use KKM-approved, certified LED phototherapy equipment designed for infant use. The treatment is non-invasive when used according to provided instructions.

A doctor’s referral is not mandatory for rental. However, if jaundice levels are reported to be high, we may request recent bilirubin test results to ensure suitability for home phototherapy.
Parents are strongly advised to continue care and follow-up with their own doctor or paediatrician.

Bilirubin levels should ideally be monitored through medical follow-up with your doctor.
For home support, a bilirubin meter may be available as an optional add-on, and general visual monitoring guidance can be provided. Home monitoring does not replace medical assessment.

If jaundice appears to persist or worsen, parents should seek immediate medical attention from their paediatrician or nearest hospital.
Our role is limited to providing the phototherapy equipment and usage guidance; medical assessment and treatment decisions must be made by a doctor.

The duration of phototherapy should be based on your doctor’s advice. Generally, babies may require several hours of exposure per day, with breaks for feeding and care. Parents should always follow medical guidance rather than self-deciding treatment duration.

Yes. Babies can usually rest or sleep comfortably during phototherapy. Eye protection and proper positioning should be used as instructed to ensure safety.

Phototherapy is non-invasive and does not cause pain. Babies may appear slightly unsettled at first due to the light or environment, which is normal.

Most babies tolerate phototherapy well. Some may experience mild skin dryness or increased bowel movements. If you notice unusual symptoms or have concerns, you should contact your paediatrician immediately.

No. Visual improvement alone is not sufficient to determine when treatment should stop. Decisions on stopping phototherapy should be made based on medical follow-up and bilirubin assessment by your doctor.

No. Home phototherapy is not suitable for all babies. Babies with very high bilirubin levels, premature infants, or those with other medical conditions may require hospital-based care, as advised by a doctor.

No. Sonobee Ultrasound provides equipment rental and usage guidance only. Medical consultation, diagnosis, treatment decisions, and follow-up must be managed by your own doctor or paediatrician.

Yes. Breastfeeding should continue as normal, unless otherwise advised by your doctor. Feeding breaks are important and allowed during phototherapy sessions.

Our team will provide clear setup instructions and usage guidance at delivery. If you encounter technical issues with the equipment, you may contact our support team. For medical concerns, always consult your doctor.
