Week 8
Now, the fetus is about 16mm. The arms of the fetus are already getting longer and bigger than the legs because the upper part of the body grows faster than the lower part.
Ankles, knees, fingers and thighs have not yet developed in the legs. At this stage, many body systems and organs and major body systems have begun to form. It includes the brain, heart, liver, nervous system, kidneys and intestines.
The amniotic sac, which is filled with amniotic fluid, also helps protect the baby and acts like a ‘cushion’ by absorbing any external pressure or impact.
