Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about health screening
1. What is included in a full body ultrasound screening?
A full body ultrasound screening typically includes the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas (where visible), bladder, uterus or prostate, and may also include breast or scrotum scans.
Optional add-on screenings such as carotid artery screening may be available.
2. How often should I go for a health screening?
For general wellness, once a year is commonly recommended. Individuals with existing medical conditions, symptoms, or a family history of certain illnesses may choose to screen more frequently, based on their doctor’s advice.
3. Do I need to fast before an ultrasound health screening?
Yes. For upper abdominal scans, fasting for at least 8 hours is usually required.
For pelvic scans, a full bladder is typically needed. Our team will provide preparation instructions before your appointment.
4. Can I get my results digitally?
Yes. All ultrasound images and reports are securely delivered via the Flabee Care App, allowing convenient access anytime.
5. Is this screening HRDF claimable?
Yes. Ultrasound health screening is HRDF claimable for corporate group screening programmes. We will provide the necessary supporting documentation.
6. Does an ultrasound health screening include blood tests?
Ultrasound screening and blood tests are different but complementary. Blood tests can be added as an optional package, depending on your needs.
Blood tests may help assess general health indicators such as cholesterol, blood sugar, liver function, and kidney function.
7. Should I do both ultrasound and blood tests?
Many people choose to combine ultrasound screening with blood tests for a more comprehensive overview of their health. Your doctor can advise which combination is suitable for you.
8. Is ultrasound health screening painful or invasive?
No. Ultrasound screening is non-invasive, does not involve radiation, and is generally painless. Some mild pressure may be felt during the scan.
9. Can ultrasound screening detect all diseases?
No. Ultrasound screening is a screening tool, not a diagnostic test. It helps identify areas that may need further medical review, but it cannot detect all conditions.
10. What if the screening shows something unusual?
If an image requires further clarification, you will be advised to follow up with your doctor. Your doctor may recommend additional tests or specialist consultation if needed.
11. Do I still need to see a doctor after screening?
Yes. Ultrasound health screening does not replace medical consultation. Results should always be reviewed and interpreted by your doctor as part of your overall health care.
12. How long does a full body ultrasound screening take?
A full body ultrasound screening usually takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the number of areas screened and image visibility.
Important note:
Ultrasound health screening is intended for screening and wellness purposes only. It does not provide a diagnosis and does not replace consultation, investigation, or treatment by a medical doctor.
13. Is a radiologist report compulsory for ultrasound health screening?
No. A radiologist report is not compulsory for ultrasound health screening. Many people choose screening for general wellness and reassurance, and may opt to review the images with their own doctor if needed.
However, a radiologist report can be added as an optional service for those who prefer a formal written review to share with their doctor or for personal records.
14. Can the result report be used for insurance purposes?
Yes. Ultrasound screening reports that are reviewed and verified by our radiologist may be used for insurance-related purposes. Acceptance is subject to the insurance provider’s terms and requirements.
We recommend checking with your insurer in advance to confirm their documentation criteria.
15. Do I need to bring someone along for a scrotum scan?
Yes. For comfort, safety, and professional practice, patients undergoing a scrotum ultrasound scan are required to bring one accompanying person. This person may be a family member or trusted companion.
Our team will ensure the procedure is conducted respectfully and professionally at all times.
16. Are there any risks from an ultrasound scan?
Ultrasound has been used for many years and does not involve radiation. When performed by trained professionals and in accordance with recommended practices, it is generally considered safe.
Ultrasound scans are non-invasive and most people experience no discomfort or only mild pressure during the procedure. As with any medical procedure, scans are performed responsibly and only when appropriate.
17. I received a referral letter from the hospital. Do you accept it?
Yes. We accept referral letters from hospitals and clinics for ultrasound services. Please bring the referral letter with you on the day of your appointment so our team can review it before the scan.
If you have any questions about the referral or the type of scan required, feel free to contact us in advance and we’ll be happy to assist.
